Free State Seniors Golf Association of Maryland (FSSGAM), Inc.

  Heritage…Established in 1971, the FSSGAM was the first senior golf association in Maryland.  There are seven monthly tournaments per year - two individual events, three two-man team events, and two four-man team events.

  Objective… The FSSGAM provides senior golfers the opportunity to enjoy competitive golf and good fellowship
through an organized program of golf tournaments and concurrent social activities held at the finest golf courses.

  Eligibility... Any amateur male golfer who is 50 years of age or older, is an annual dues paying member in good standing of a golf or country club, and has an established USGA handicap is eligible for membership.

  Cost … The annual dues for 2017 are $60.  Each tournament’s entry fee is approximately $100
                           and entitles the player to the round of golf, golf cart, range balls, prizes, and dinner.
           There is no minimum number of tournaments that members must play.
 
  Prizes and Tournament Schedule … All members are eligible to participate, with flights arranged by handicap.
           There is a “Super Seniors” flight for those at least 71 years of age, with their age plus handicap index over 90.
  Gross and net prizes are awarded within each flight.  The field is limited to 120 players.

The FSSGAM also sponsors the Free State Match Play Team Championship held each year and open to all clubs
that have members in the Association.  In addition, at the end of each season, the FSSGAM honors its lowest handicap members by selecting them to play a two day competitive event against a team of Northern Virginia Seniors
in a Ryder Cup style match called the “'Potomac Challenge.”
